Got 5 heifers due , 1 has had her calf yesterday , nice bull calf with no problems . Havent had heifers calving in a long time , since I was a kid , Getting back into cattle for retirement , lol . All black heifers . Are they going to make more milk or am I going to have to get the bottle out . she got a little bag once she dropped the calf but not much . Are all of them going to be like this ???? Bottle feed ????

I am going to start baling 250 acres that a buddy of mine owns. It's mostly grass with maybe 10-15% alfalfa. About 285 bales were taken off it last year. I just picked up a Heston 560 baler that is in immaculate condition for $750. Always stored inside. Figure it would be a great starter baler until I get a couple crops off and can trade up. Anything I should know about this baler? Problematic areas, etc.

I'm needing to know at what engine rpm they worked best at.
I'm in the middle of building one, and need to decide whether to gear it to run at idle, or a faster engine speed.
Not sure how much power they require (I'm gonna use it on 90hp tractors) to mix 9cu ft of mud at a whack. I'm sure 90hp is plenty, but at idle?
