Vermeer 605f bale density changeover kit

dimanche 2 août 2020

I have a 605f with the Teledyne changeover kit for the hydraulic bale density. The pressure gauge stopped working and my bales don't seem as tight as they were. I took the cap off the pipe above the cylinder and there is oil in there. I can't see that any hoses are leaking anywhere. Does anyone have a service manual on these kits, or could someone please walk me through how to service and/or adjust these?

thanks in advance

Rebaling small squares in a round baler, will it work?

samedi 1 août 2020

I was given a field to do, its been partially baled with a small squares, enter cows..gophers...deer...now about every 5th bale is broken.

I'm finishing up with the rb, how will it go if I get a core rolling then feed in broken small bales?

Can I start a core on a broken small bale?

I'll pull the strings obviously

Square bales won’t separate -- posting this for BillVee

[I’m posting this here from a PM I received (inadvertently I think) seeking for help with a problem. Following is quoted from his message.  I don’t know enough about this kind of problem to offer much help.  Thanks--Gearclash]

Hello, BillVee here. I'm new to Hay Talk.

I have a JD336 baler and pull and Agway 8 bale accumulator behind. In heavy stemmed hay, timothy and brome, the bales do not always separate when they come out of the baler. this creates a big problem when 2 bales go into the same chute. it requires someone to follow along and manually cut the hay linkage between the bales - big pain!! I've tried several things - knife sharpening and adjusting, baler timing, plugger extensions, and restriction plates. I've also extended knives at the top.

Does anyone have a recommendation on how to fix this??

New Holland 658 auto wrap monitor

I recently acquired a New Holland 658 baler, but it didn't come with the monitor. I was wondering how difficult is it to get these monitors and how much do they cost? I know on the auto wrap you don't "have" to have the monitor, but i would prefer have one to have the buzzer. I've been searching on ebay and amazon and have not been able to find one new or used. Are they still in production and available from a dealer, or do i need to try a junk yard or individuals? Thanks.

New Holland 658 pickup issues

I just recently acquired a New Holland 658 auto wrap baler. When i got it home and checked everything out and kicked the PTO on, the right side of the pickup seems to be flexing/bouncing and the left side not so much. I know the previous owner did mention something about the pickup was needing work, but I can't remember the details. My question is, are these pickups prone to having issues, is it possible for the frame to be cracked and just need to be braced and rewelded (will this even be a good option), or should i just look for a new pickup assembly? I'd like to not put thousands into a baler only worth a few thousand, but at the same time, if it needs fixed then i also want to make sure it is done right and ready to bale when i need it.

Also, i'm new to these balers and have no experience with them. Any additional info or help with this baler would be appreciated.
