Hi all, as you can see this is my first post. I have spent untold hours researching and narrowing my choices for my first RTV/UTV. I just bought this with 550 hours on it. Great physical condition and seemed to run fine. I drove it down into a pit and tried to climb out and it would die trying to run. I also tried to do what I saw here which was to give it not too much throttle and no difference.

On road it's fine but my max speed is like 21mph at best so I am thinking something is wrong with the power delivery.

So...I dropped by work today to install new seat covers on my new (used) buggy and upon quick reinspection realized I forgot to address something that needs fixing. 3 of the 4 round dash vent grills need to be replaced/repaired because the rod connecting the 2 blades are missing. I checked with Torq Masters about them possibly having a locking differential for the RTV X1120. Here is their response.

"Thanks for your email. Our style of locker is mechanical (not electrical) and it works automatically like an automotive locker. We do not currently have a locker for the RTV but we are looking into it. I do not see us having one ready until late 2022 or early 2023."

Hi guys.
My 2017 Max 24 has been babied. It’s garage kept and has just 275 hrs.

A few months ago it started taking longer to fire up after sitting a few days. I was hoping it would just clear it’s self up because it ran perfectly after starting.
Yesterday I used it all day moving dirt.
today it will not start.
It’s just puffing out white smoke.

The air filter is new and clean.
The battery is new and fully charged.
All fuses “that I know of” are good.

Hi All,

So...my new/used buggy is ready to go into service this Sunday at work. I'm an Airline Line RON Mechanic (overnight). Had full service performed, Hazard/turn signal lights, FT and RR work lights, reverse beeper, rear window grill and bed mat added at my local Dealership. Still a few things to do, but she's ready enough for now. Question/s specific to this thread are adding reverse light down low.

Weird Exhaust Smell

The last two times I've ran my RTV I've noticed a strange burning smell. It's running perfectly fine. The first time I thought maybe salt off the roads on the exhaust. Even though I never smelled it last winter. Today I narrowed it down to the exhaust itself. IT SMELLS LIKE GRILLING MEAT! Do you think a mouse could've actually died inside my muffler? I've checked over the rest of the machine, no nests or debris anywhere.

After the hydraulic oil on my JD2040 gets hot I start having hydraulic control problems. I was told I have a valve problem. Is this a check valve? Do I have to separate the tractor to repair . Could It be something else? Should a novice try this kind of repair? Thanks

Wife and I have bdays within 20 days of each other. So our kids bought us a glass blowing experience. Very unique. Lots of fin.

we each make a pumpkin. They instructor stepped us thru what to do. Thank goodness remembered not to inhale while glass tube was still in my mouth. Whew.

John Deere 955 Is Slow

Hi all! New to owning a tractor and I bought a nice John Deere 955 with around 480 hours, 1992. The problem I am having is that it is very slow, around 3-5 mph and the manual says top speed should be around 11. All fluids are good, no leaks that I can see. I have it in high gear, placing it in low gear slows it to a snails pace. Maybe linkage problem? I don't know and looking for ideas before I have to pay big $ to a dealer. Thanks All

John Deere 6110 hissing sound stuck valve.

Title says it all.
I have a 6110 jd with a 620 loader. It doesn’t seem to matter if I use the loader, or steering wheel, quite often a valve is sticking somewhere in the back making a hissing sound. If I wiggle the loader it releases the pressure.
Any idea what to take apart and clean?

Zero RTV Dealer Stock?

I drove past Allpower in Athens, Ohio this afternoon on the way to the farm and noticed there isn't a single RTV on the lot. On the way back, I stopped and peeked into the front window. Not a single unit in sight. Not even a Sidekick. There was a used buggy of some kind in the fenced area but I could not make out what it was.

Is this the same in your area? If so, is anyone clear on why? Is it parts availability? Factory short on people? No one to ship them?

Love my RTV but the back U-Joints on my 2007 Kubota 900 is POS. I have to replace them quite frequently and I thing the sudden stopping has a lot to do with it. Is there a way to adjust this machine so it doesn't throw me through the windshield when I decelerate?

I saw these today on TractorByNet. Two very disturbing images. The poster did not explain how it happened but I do not believe there were injuries. The driver was thrown free. I hope they were OK.

Well, the title says it all really. I do not own the machine, but it belongs to the farm I run. Today while backing out of the garage I shifted from reverse and the fork jumped out of it's cups. Hey Guys,
Whats the best Windshield Wiper blade replacement you guys have found for the x1100c?
I have tried 2 diff ones from Orielys . a $22 bosh that did not press enough in the center of the blade to clean water from the windshield ,
And another $14 one that looked like the one that was on it,. but cheapo does not do a good job as the old dried out one that was on it.
I did not find any actual BLADE only slide ins at Oreilys , Guy said blade only are a thing of the past............

I'm finding the downside of the new Curtis/Kubota MKII cabs is the difficulty in mounting outside mirrors. My wife has a Prius that has a backup camera and while driving it the other day, I thought that one of those might solve my RTV rear view problem.

First Snow & First Time With Plow

We had about 4" of snow overnight and I got to try my new SnoDogg plow. I had to adjust the mount height an inch and that helped. No frost in the ground so had to bee careful and still dug it up some. Several days of cold temps will put some frost in and then the plowing will go much better. I love the plow. Takes less than 3 minutes to put it on or off. I store it on a dolly and I just roll it up and tip the lift frame up and set the lock pins, plug it in and we are off!!

I have 45 hours on my RTV500 and will be doing my 50 hour service soon, if I don’t scrap it first. I know this whole thing sounds a little redneck, but, on a hill, my RTV500 will not “downshift”, as it runs out of power, I just continue to release the throttle-servo controller until I am down to a fast walking speed. My DK 45 is starting hard with lots of smoke.

Replaced glow plugs, and associated 70A relay. New ignition switch.

I am reading 8.4 V at the third glow plug on a cold start and it does not increase with time until the controller shuts down.

Suspecting that the pre heat controller is not functioning properly?

Anyone out there with an ohmeter and a DK 45 that can test their voltage as the glow plugs heat up, or anyone know what this may be? Thanks so much.

I have an L48 Kubota tractor, when I go to start it the glow plug lamp comes on, wait a few seconds and she fires right up, and the lamp goes out …..however twenty minutes later while working it the lamp will come on again for 30-60 seconds and go out….this repeats at odd intervals while working? So is it a bad air temperature intake sensor or the relay or???

Hello.. have a RTV x1140 with about 127 hours on it. My dump bed stopped working.. Fluid level is good, all connections are seated correctly. I can hear it engage but no movement on the bed. Dealer has a 4 week wait and I am fairly sure this is something simple. Any suggestions? Also shouldn't you be able to manually raise the bed when you float it? Can't get the bed to move at all.. Any help would be appreciated.

This tractor has about 1900 hours and starts and runs fine. Fuel filter recently replaced and fuel regularly conditioned with Diesel 911. My fuel is pumped into the tractor through a filter and water separator on the fuel barrel. However, the engine randomly cuts out. X1100C Dump Bed Hydraulic Question

I recently repurposed the dump bed hydraulic circuit to operate the angle feature on my snow plow. I control the angle from the dump bed lever but it is jumpy and a little too sensitive. Can someone tell me if the system has a built in flow restrictor to adjust the fluid flow rate for this circut? I know I can install two line throttle valves but before i invest in these I would like to know if there is any ajustment in the machine itself I could look at.

Mornin' folks.
I just talked to my tire guy, and UTV tires are really hard to get. 1st time since 1974 i will buy tires from someone else.

So i am looking at Carlisle Versa trail 26X11X12s. My machine is a tired old 2005 RTV900. Any input on whether these would be too much for the old girl?

Out for a drive yesterday. Went a total of 40 mikes I’d guess. After stopping to get fuel I notice the speedometer had quit working. Both the digital speed and the odometer stopped working. Totally out of the blue.

Over the years I have driven campers, dump trucks, and school buses so backing with mirrors is generally not a problem. However for some reason when backing the X900 with mirrors it is difficult to determine how close I am to whatever I'm backing toward. Did the 20 hour oil change on the Sidekick: Why remove skidplate?

The OM says to remove the skid plate in their oil change procedure (page 67). There's a perfectly sized hole right under the oil drain plug, easy to get to, no need to remove the skid plate. Oil drains fine, easy two minute job (once it's up on the rack). Removing it does nothing to perform the job and all it does is add time and unnecessary work.

So, I rolled the rtv. It’s a heavy beast to get back on her feet! Very minor damage. I have let it sit for a week now without trying to start. Am I the only one with this issue I wonder? We have a 2015 RTV X1120D with about 4,000 miles/976 hours on it. A few years ago, the muffler bracket that is closest to the exhaust manifold broke. No big deal, I welded it up, put it back together and was a happy camper. Lately I heard this similar tinny rattling sound, and found one of the heat shield tabs was broken. I notice when the machine is cold the transmission is very responsive, and as it heats up it seems more sluggish. It's especially noticeable when the machine is hot and I stop in a hole or up against an steep incline and then try to start forward again - slipping and often limited to no forward movement. Hi! I have a 2013 RTV 1120 that I bought that has very very low travel performance. It will only make 3 mph on the stands. It has all new filters and factory fluid. There were no chunks In fact nothing in the oil and just normal charcoal colored paste on the magnetic plug. When I asked the dealer some very technical questions I could tell they really did not know much. (3 different dealers). it feels like it is cavitating because of the shuttering. Tractor won't start Original 13 year old battery died

For the first time since I bought my baby (Grand L 3010) in 2002 it would not start when I tried to use it to move the snow around.
Battery turned but to slow to fire it up. This is the original battery. I bought in April 2002, so the original battery is just two months shy of lasting 13 years.
I must say I'm impressed. I've never had a battery last that long. Ever.

My X1100C with 100 hours on it has a problem: when I turn the air-conditioner on, within just a few minutes the front fan begins to turn on and off, cycling every few seconds. The AC cools great; low and high pressures are good. The receiver dryer sight glass shows coolant level is okay. I have replaced the coolant sensor that screws into the thermostat housing and the relay under seat that controls the front fan.

Hissing sound when driving around

Hi,

I have a almost brand new 1100XC with less than 50 hours on it. When I start it and drive around when it's "cold", it doesn't make any hissing sound. After a few minutes a few minutes of running, it starts doing this extremely annoying hissing sound.

When I stop moving, it stops. Sometimes it doesn't do it, like when going downhill, but when I go uphill or on flat grounds, it's just insane.

My clutch went out on my old 220-4 this weekend. Kind of surprised but the parts seem to be readily available. What I cant find is a 13 spline clutch alignment tool. Does anyone know where I can find one or have one that I could buy, rent, or borrow? I will pay all costs associated with getting it to me and be happy to ship it back if its a loaner. Unless there is a substantial moon, our farm is darker than 10 feet down a well at night. Many times I've tried to find the keyhole or the glovebox knob in the dark and had to pull out my phone - if I had it - to make with the flashy light.

I don’t no the history of what happened to create the engine problems but do know with testing the Engine has blow bye produced off #3 cylinder and weak compression in other two. My question is would it be beneficial to remove the complete engine and transmission for rebuild or try and do a inframe?

New Snow Dogg Plow for RTV900

Do you have rear view mirrors on your tractor?

I've got a lot of seat time the past few days. Great weather for getting the brush hogging and box blading done.
I find it harder to turn around to view completely behind me than I used to. Old age I suppose, but I have mirrors on the RTV so why not the tractor? The front end loader bar that goes across the top of the hood would be a likely place to mount them.

Anyone else beat me to this and have mirrors on their tractor? If so what kind did you get and where did you mount them?

Received my RTV X900 today. I purchased with a KFI snow plow. I took the plow off first thing as I don't plan on keeping it on until needed. It was difficult to get the pressure off the pins that hold the blade assembly to the RTV mount. I tried using a jack to make it easy to pull the pins but nothing seemed to relieve the pressure. I believe it is because I lowered the blade onto wooden blocks rather than putting it directly on the floor of my shed.

RTV Boss Plow

I'll post a couple pics here in case anyone is ever interested in getting a Boss plow for their RTV. I just put the three skid shoes on it today.

I haven't stiffened up my front suspension and don't think I need to. No real droop when I pick it up.

I am impressed with how high it lifts.

Later on I'll take it off and see if I am still going to be able to put my receiver mounted winch back on without removing the one part of the mount bracket, but it is only a couple bolts for that piece...

My dealer says my X900 should be ready next week. I have been considering doors for cold weather but would like some that can be easily removed as I do not want them on the vehicle for most of the year. It seems some type of fabric doors would be the best option but zippers and velcro closures seem like they would be a hassle. I saw some from Seizmic that have frames for $900 which seems a little high.

Any advice or personal experience on doors?

I am upgrading to a newer server. It will require a new IP address. The server upgrade will not take long but since the IP will change once again all will have to wait for the new IP address to propagate the network. As usual some will propagate fast others will take a day or more before you have access. .

This is only a heads up so you are not taken by surprise.

We had a pot luck at work and someone brought this. I think it's worth sharing. Very good.

Cheesy Hash Brown Casserole

1 20 Oz package shredded hash brown potatoes
1 small can of cream of chicken soup
2 cups of shredded Cheddar Cheese
1 container of sour cream
1 stick of butter (melted)

Combine ingredients and dump into 9 x 13 pan.
Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

We're putting up new HT fence . Real heavy duty tornado like wire but stretches like a charm. The only problem I had was the DK40 being pulled backwards even with both brakes locked. But.. with a chock behind the rear wheels, it held like a tight drum or as they say a "fiddle string" .

RTV 500 Doors?

I was lucky enough that my father inlaw purchased us a RTV 500 a year plus ago. Got the roof, windshield and rear glass(that maybe plastic) but was sad to learn that I'm not able to get doors for it. Dealer says something like there's a flaw in the exhaust that leaks into the cabin.

Is this true, is there a hack to fix this? Have some owners figured out how to install doors?

Great company and people but they are under the same supply line and labor shortages everyone else is. They use American steel which is apparently difficult to obtain, even with supply side contracts.

x1100c ...What is the difference between H and L

Some of my hills are a challenge for the RTV due to rocks sticking up, or slippery muddy areas. So I put the RTV in 4wd and go for it. I usually make it up the hill but once in awhile have to back down and give it another shot. I've made it up the hills while in H, and while in L. I do not notice a difference in the RTV's performance.

Can someone explain the difference in H and L please. Thanks.

After the hydraulic oil on my JD2040 gets hot I start having hydraulic control problems. I was told I have a valve problem. Is this a check valve? Do I have to separate the tractor to repair . Could It be something else? Should a novice try this kind of repair? Thanks

As some of you know we do agricultural spraying with our X1100c. In March I started looking for a manufacturer that makes a cruise control for the Kubotas. After a lot of research I came across a company called McCruise in Australia. Due to the pandemic they have had issues getting parts but finally they arrived and they shipped out a unit. Kubota RTV 900 stops abruptly

When in a forward gear and coasting to a stop, my Kubota stops forward motion abruptly when I take my foot off the fuel. Almost like a lurch. I suspect my transmission linkage is too tight, leaving no free play to neutral for the machine to coast to a stop, or maybe the brakes are too tight and dragging?. .Any advice on this?. I'm a new owner of a 2006 with 560 hours on it.

Snowblower for my x1100 , looking for input

L5240 3pt won't raise

This tractor had a piled-up hydrostat that I rebuilt. Has been working greatfor the last 20 hrs.

Went to use in today and the 3pt won't raise. The control lever is moving what it should but there is no movement in the 3pt hitch. If I lift it up manually, it will stay up.

Hst, power steering, and loader works normally.

Any ideas?
