Bales per minute. A beat to death topic.

So I was baling grass hay the other day and I was hitting some pretty high numbers an hour. I am using the NH 5070 hay liner w/ Kuhns 18 bale accumulator. I was making half way decent bales 3rd cutting. 38-43 bales every 3 minutes. Brought up the idea in my head of everyone elses record hay bales per hour. It was like I couldn't break a shear pin. Anyways let me know what you guys can do and with what equipment!

I know there are multiple threads on the adjustment of the servo screw but can anyone explain what the servo does and what effect the adjustment has? Preferably in basic terms?

I do believe 90% of all Alfalfa seed that are protected seed are owned by Forage Genetics.  A few years earlier the mood in the seed companies changed and their way of doing business has also changed. They are now less trusting of we the seed buyers.

It has been mentioned in the thread that Public Domain varieties will equal or better the Private varieties.
This is a true statement.  When Oklahoma did a lot of varsities testing their Oklahoma common did just as well as the higher cost private seed. Until a disease or pest pops up in your area.  Then a good pest resistance pays.  If this was not true then Hairy Peruvian Alfalfa would still be the hands down favorite, HERE.
Then We would be combining seed from a thin stand and make more off the seed than two years of hay off that piece of ground.  Then Apollo came into favor and put an end to seed production in the hay field.
Instead I now plant WL 354 HQ.  What will be in favor in another few years is anyone's guess. 

The early Apollo was preinoculated at the local dealer's.  Order 10 sacks of seed and receive 12 sacks of inoculated seed. 
One year I ordered an ABI variety and was charged extra for the seed had not been treated.  It was that year that I learned that raw seed would out germinate the treated seed. Instead of planting 30 lbs/A I planted 20 lbs /A and it out performed the treated seed.

Most years, what pays here is good "Pest" resistance,.

2007 New Holland 1411

Need help trouble shooting. Up until this year this machine has been great.

In mid July this year my cutter started giving me problems with the bearings on the cutter bar both on the shafts and the bearing under the turtle. The bearing under the left birdcage kept going out (4 times), eventually three of the gear boxes on the left side of the cutter bar broke shafts and locked up and the shaft bearings went out. I had almost all of the cuter bar rebuilt( not cheap) I am still loosing bearings in the right gear box under the bird cage. I had the dealer work on it and they replaced a bushing where the floatation spring connects to the frame. Last field I cut I just capped the last gearbox and took the turtle and the bird cage off. Machine ran like a champ.

 

Any help would be much appreciated.

 

2007 New Holland 1411

New Holland 467 Opinion

I got my tractor now I am starting to look at some other equipment. I found a New holland 467 haybine that someone is selling for $500. They say the rollers are good, the reel is good and the tires are new. However they say that it needs a U-joint and shaft at the gear box. I priced the U-Joint at $25 and I have not found a price on the shaft yet. Before I get involved in this I wanted to get some opinions on this equipment and figure out if this is something that I should mess with or not?

Adjusting Bypass Vavle for smooth shifts

I'll try to explain and clarify the adjustment of the Bypass Valve to allow for easier shifts. We've all experienced and dealt with our RTVs being stubborn to get out of gear. I believe the '08 and newer models have a double Bypass Valve that is operated by the pull knob on the dash and/or the application of the brakes using the pedal. Older models only have the dash knob, not sure of the years. Older still models don't have either. Someone can clarify the years of those changes??

So the mechanical purpose of the Bypass Valve is to relieve hydraulic pressure from the drive system to allow the shifter to change range selection and/or reverse.

On my '08 model the valve is located just above and rearward from the driver's side (left) rear axle ujoint protruding from the side of the transaxle housing. It has two levers vertically stacked.

The top lever is connected to the dash knob and activated by pulling the knob. This is a simple mechanism and is adjusted by changing the cable adjustment.

The bottom lever is connected to the left rear wheel brake cam lever and activated by applying the brakes using the foot pedal or by activating the park brake lever. This one is much more complicated.

The first picture is taken from just above the left rear tire. It clearly shows the two bypass valve levers. It also shows the top lever being connected to the dash knob cable. And it shows the bottom lever being connected to a spring which goes forward and connects to the brake cam lever with an adjuster.
