RTV stuck in forward

samedi 2 avril 2016

The shift lever appears to be in neutral ....and I can start the RTV, but once started I cannot move to L, M, H or R ....but if I touch the gas it goes forward.

Mine is a RTV 900 06 model. Sure hope this is not serious. Any advice appreciated. I miss her working already and I just found out. My wife had tried to use it on the 30th before I mowed and she said she finally gave up as she could not get it in gear. I said I hope you did not force it and she assured me she did not. .....I guess the definition of force is what I'm wondering about now.

Government Regulation Re Selling Hay into the US from Canada

Hi - I was wondering if anybody from Canada on this site has sold hay into the US before.  I have reached out to the Canadian embassy in Washington and they sent information to me about the CFIA certification to help prove compliance with foreign (including US) phytosanitary requirements - has anybody gone through this before?   They also said that each state may have regulations as well - has anybody gone through the process of meeting specific state requirements?

Thank you

Discbine - Shear Hubs - Necessity or Gimmick????

Or something else.....

Looking at a youtube video by Massey Ferguson / Hesston on their 1363 mower conditioner last night

and in the video the guy mentions, if I heard it right - no shear protection is provided - because the cutterbar and gear design is such that it's strong enough and doesn't need any protection.  One of the selling points in this video and/or maybe another one said that because 3 gear teeth are in constant mesh with the mating gears - shear protection is not needed.

MF/Hesston mentions the cutter bar is the same as used in their windrowers - so I'm thinking, exclusive, only MF/Hesston - no one else does this - OK heavy duty.

However, just for kicks, I also looked at NH and JD windrowers and it appears they are using the same cutter bars in their discbines - along with shear hubs.

So what's the deal with MF/Hesston.  Is the cutterbar so heavy duty you really don't need shear protection?  Or is their cutter bar a time bomb waiting to happen?

Just curious.

Thanks,

Bill

Annualizing Timothy Production in the Mid Atlantic

I have had a lot of trouble with timothy production over the last several years after having a field that produced well for almost 10.  I have had real issues with speedwell but Grazon Next just took it out and is not supposed to hurt timothy, so we will see.  Some folks around my general area annualize timothy, plant for one year production and then go on to something else like wheat etc.  Having one good field of Timothy fits my business well as it is harvested slightly later than the OG so I keep slugging.  A few questions:

How many are doing this-Once and done timothy?

I looks like it would be a burn down after first cutting and regrowth, about aug 1, mid aug plant date here, and heavy seeding rates.  I plan to only do no till probably at 12#/ac and drilled and x drilled so about 25# total.

I would plan to spray for winter annuals about the end of October on the newly established timothy.

I would let it go two years if I just got a really good set.

If I do this for several years, seems like I would have the crab grass under control-is that wishful thinking?

Any thoughts on this approach would be welcome.  rick
