BC5070 KNOTTER HELP (NEED PRO)

Bought brand new last year. I would say there are enough bales run through to wear the paint off. Had trouble since new. About 2000 bales through.

The side is always the right side looking from the back of machine.

Knot is always on twine #2 and not on twine #1

Trouble shooting guide states (twine holder spring tension too low)

I have adjusted as stated ¼ turn at a time. I have adjusted a full 1 ¼ turn so far. Looking straight down at end of spring gap. It started out about .125 it is now about .050. I adjusted both sides the same.

I lifted up knotter and took screw driver onto bottom of spring tensioner. To check spring pressure it is very firm. Also compared to left side knotter. They both seam close to the same tension.

Also possible cause is baling to tight. If I was truly bailing to tight wouldn’t the breakage be random? Not always on the right side?
Last baled was straw. About 34 inch bales about 25lbs. strings were pretty tight to get finger under. Side hay tension or wedges were screwed all the way in.

I baled 127 and 98 were good. So 29 were broken. Not acceptable to me.

When I unloaded wagon I found many specimens. The result was always the same. The right side only had knot on twine #2.
Big question???? Why did so many bales end up coming apart in wagon? Yes a lot broke apart in air to wagon. Always could see the bales let loose because only one string was on.

So is this a hint to when the string is coming apart?

Massey 1840 Baler

I bought a used 1840 early model. The hydraulic tank for the tensionor seeps oil. Any one else have this problem? Tank is vertical

I have. Dang it.

Last weekend I'm loading up the RTV for it's weekly 'haul the trash up to the road' chore. But, I did it all different. Daughter and SIL were visiting and doing a little boating, and their car was in the drive. SIL parked the ATV in a spot where I had to back up further than normal to get around the ATV. So I have a full load (two 55 gallon trash cans and a full 55 gallon bag plus some boxes) ...so I can't see out the back. I was not going fast .....but I backed into the kids Honda Accord, like a love tap. LOL The bed of the RTV went over the fender and hood and scraped them pretty good, down to the metal. Uggg.

I was sick. Their nearly new car and I had dinged it good. When the kids got back I had to tell them and show them what i did. :hide: Daughter says no problem. Huh? She just happens to be our insurance agent. I asked her if she thought our homeowners would cover this? She thought it might, but .... She said didn't we write a policy on the RTV? I didn't remember that. She said you had a loan on it so the bank wanted coverage. Oh yeah, that's right. I hope it's still in force. Sure nuff it is. I pay $96 bucks a year for it. It's with Progressive.

Daughter filed the claim, claim agent got right back with me. No problem. Get an estimate. No deductible for the car repair. Was the RTV damaged, she asked. No. If so it has a $250 deductible. Anyone hurt. Thankfully No, so no issue there. Very good service.

They arranged for a car for my daughter and took her car to get it repaired. What I guessed might be $700 tops turned into a $1600 repair. :eek: I had thought of paying it out of pocket (before I knew I had insurance and when I thought the repair was cheaper). Man, glad I did not have to consider doing that.

I have to admit that $8 a month for insurance ($96 yr) is probably the best $8 I could spend. Wow did it save me. :blob_blue: Thanks Progressive. Very impressive service and reasonable rates. :thumb:

Hesston 4755?

I've got the chance to buy a 4755 Heston 3'x3' x8 square baler. Hoping to have a look at it some time this week. He says its field ready, used this year and has about 45000 bales on it. He wants $17000 for it and going off of others I've seen and market book I think it's an alright deal. Just wondering if anyone on here has any input on what to look for in a used big square baler(this will be my first), what I need for hp to run it. There seems to be a lot of awesome feedback on this forum so any help is welcome.

Also if I was to do custom baling or baled a bunch of straw this fall to sell with it what would you charge?

Baler for Baleage and costs for wrapping bales

I'm looking to get into doing more or mainly baleage for our 60 cow dairy. My chopping equipment is getting wore out and replacing/updating the line looks just silly expensive. I have hired someone in the past who baled and individual wrapped for 16$ a bale. I wouldn't hire him to wrap again basically because the bales only ended up with 2 layers of plastic and from what I've read they really should get 8. He ran a New Holland with the crop cutter and the bales fed nice through my vertical mixer. I plan on making around 500 bales a year. I do have a Vermeer round baler I have to trade towards a baler with a crop cutter. I almost traded it last winter on a New Holland 7070 until a friend talked me out seeing as he had a 7060 and offered to do my bales as a custom job. And by spring sold his baler, nice...

My big questions are is it worth my effort to trade my Vermeer 664 Rancher in on a baler with the crop cutter, and which balers are good silage balers? I need the cutter for my tmr mixer.

The other question is how expensive is the wrap for line wrapping on a per bale and if I have the baler should I buy a wrapper as well?

M&W 4500 opinions

I'm looking at an M&W 4500 a neighbor offered about a year ago but I couldn't afford in a package with a Ford 5610 that's been used to run the baler. They bought a newer Kubota and vermeer and don't need the M&W anymore. If I remember right they wanted $6000 for the pair. The tractor is in fair shape but I don't know anything about the baler and don't see a lot of M&W stuff. What's the opinions on the M&W 4500? I know it's string only but my customers are ok with that. I'll be making around 100 bales a year maybe a little more.
