Baling maize leftovers

I make small hay bales during summer while our neighbours grow maize.

Summer is well gone now and we're heading into autumn.

The maize was harvested today. Sometimes it's cut while green for silage, but by this time of the year it's harvested just for the maize kernels with the stalk and leaves thrown out the back of the combine harvester.

 

My question is, can I bale up the maize stalks and leaves ?

 

The material is well dried and if I time it right, the weather is still warmish, no rain.

 

I'm guessing I could just rake the material, then bale it immediately.

I have a Kuhn rotary rake, so it should rake it ok and not get caught up in the uncut stalks.

The baler pickup might not like the uncut stalks (I use a Welger AP71).

 

The bales would need to be picked up immediately as the ground is damp.

 

Has anyone tried this ?

What equipment ?

 

What is the baled material useful for ?

I imagine it's nutritional value is fairly low.

Great for animal bedding perhaps.

1047 bale wagon updating

Guys,
We have a 1047 with the 240 6 cylinder that is beyond what we want to rebuild. What are your thoughts about the best replacement, the 300 or something else? We use it for small squares but also put three 3x3x8s over the seat to second table with grabber or bucket and grapple. Not a Milstack but works good. Anyway I like to improve things whenever I fix them so ideas?

1047 bale wagon updating

MF 35 mystery lever

New member here with a question about a recently acquired tractor. It is I believe a MF35 Deluxe model. On the dash below the tach and to the left of the throttle there is a short chrome lever that rotates. Can't tell that it does anything in any position. Does anyone know what this lever may be. TIA for any help

Hay ground bid help!

Need the helpful advice of HayTalk. Found this ad posted in local farm newspaper. It's 24 miles one way, but I have machinery to cover these extra acres. Would be a great addition, but also more headaches at that distance. What would be a fair bid?

Minimum modtagelse i dBm?

Skulle der ikke sidde en FPV'er eller anden med enten erfaring eller viden, omkring hvornår man ikke mere kan flyve på det videosignal man modtager - sådan ca, da sådan noget jo er meget personligt.

Tænker lidt på noget ala Taranis'en:

45dBm - der mistes pakker, så derfor første alarm.
42dBm - der mistes mange pakker, så derfor anden alarm.
38dBm - failsafe!

Kan man sige noget lignede omkring det "forventet billede", set i forhold til modtaget dBm?

Tænker lidt på det her efter at have leget med bilen ude på marken, da matematikken siger at da den var ca 200m væk burde det modtagende signal have været omkring 16dBm - glemte at måle det...
Men det var et meget ringe signal, som dog ville have været flyvbart.
