Always learning

dimanche 27 avril 2014

I make about 8000 tons of haylage a year and some hay all for the horse market and have learnt a lot from reading posts on here. So in appreciation for earlier help thank you.

Today's question would these super conditioning Rolls advertised work for me. We Mow at present with a 30 foot Pottinger butterfly setup with flail conditioning this is set to minimum aggression as I want to maintain stem length . Grasses are 75% ryegrass and 25% Timothy grown as pure stands. Average yields at 35% moisture is around 4-4.5 tonnes an acre. We ted between 3-5 times to get the required DM depending on plant maturity and weather this is anywhere between 3-7 days. Our straight Italian rye grasses do have quite thick stems.

Would they fit in place of the flails on my Pottinger. All views greatly received.
