I have always waited until a rake tooth broke before replacing it. I always see a few that are worn and wonder if I should begin replacing them when they are worn and before they break. The teeth get thin where they wobble around the hole in the outer ring. I suppose there needs to be room for the teeth to flex.
I had a notion about spraying expanding foam in the hole when I replaced a tooth. The idea is to cushion the pinging that goes on when the tooth rakes. Would limiting the movement of the tooth cause extended part of the tooth to absorb all the shock of raking and break sooner?
