Combine cylinder speed dropping

mercredi 17 juin 2015

I have a JD 3300 combine I set the cylinder speed at about 1,050 rpms as that is about in the middle of the range that the manual suggested for oats. The first few rounds I cut were fine.....the rpms would drop a little when I got into the crop but not a lot. Next day when I started cutting I noticed the cylinder rpms would really drop when I got into the crop.....say from 1,050 to 875-900 rpms and it would surge back and forth about 50 rpms. What would cause this? It still was doing a pretty good job threshing the grain from the heads but I would see a head in the windrow every so often that would have a few grains left on it. I'm probably not losing much at all but it still bugs me and I can't help but thinking that when the rpms drop way down is when it's not threshing all the grain from the heads.

I'm fairly new and still learning on combines. I have only cut soybeans never had this problem......first time cutting small grain.
