Bailing Ryegrass

I noticed in an earlier discussion that some people in the northern climates got more than one cutting from their ryegrass.

We have always pulled the cows off, let it grow and cut in late May or early June.

My neighbor pulled his cows off the Ryegrass in mid March and applied 300 lb of 34-0-0 per acre. If we cut the grass before dough stage will it grow back for another cutting? We do not have skids to raise the disc mowers, just planned on cutting level with no downward angle on the blades.

Can we get more than one cutting here in the south that our neighbors to the north do?
