Narrow swaths for tedding??

I ted my alfalfa right after I get done mowing. In the past I have had problems with the leaves drying out to fast when I spead it out wide behind my discbine before I can get it tedded. For reference it usually takes me 2-3 hours before I can get to tedding. Do you think it would help if I made narrow swaths instead of spreading it out so the leaves wouldn't lose as much moisture until I can start tedding?
