When I look at a round baler, it looks somewhat like the bale sets forward of the baler's axle rather than centered over it. This makes me think the tongue weight must really go up as the bales are formed. Is this true or does the typical round baler do a decent job of putting the bulk of the bale weight on the wheels vs the tongue?
I would think if the tongue weight of a baler is heavy enough, it would necessitate front weights to keep the front end on the ground or worse case cause potential damage to the drawbar assy as I should think they are designed more for pulling vs a heavy vertical load. Anyone damaged or broke their drawbar with a round baler's tongue weight? Anyone adding front weights when pulling a round baler.
I guess the benefit of additional tongue weight on a drawbar as a bale forms and the tongue weight grows would be additional traction on the rear wheels - handy for slopes maybe?
Any comments on the round bale vs axle location and tongue weights on the drawbar as the bale is formed, traction (or lack of it) as the bale is formed and additional front weights if needed are much appreciated.
Thanks!
