I was baling some hay last week and the slip clutch was apparently slipping some and I didn't realize it until It slipped bad enough that the baler plugged up with hay. I was in heavy hay but it was very dry and there is no reason the clutch should have been slipping.....can't figure that out. Pulled the clutch off today and the disc look okay and but it appears the springs may need adjusted as each one is compressed to a different lenght. My manual said the springs are supposed to be 1.03 inches in lenght and the clutch is locked solid at .98. I'm not sure if I need to measure just the spring itself or include the washer on top of the spring between the nut in the measurement? The NH dealer said he though I should include the washer in the measurement but wast fully sure. If include the washer in the measurement I need to tighten the springs which might solve the problem of it slipping but if I don't include the washer in the measurement the springs are tighter than 1.03 and doesn't leave much if any room to tighten them up.
