I'm located in the Central Valley of California where we typically get 6-7 cutting of alfalfa. Temperatures are usually really warm and I would like to know your methods of putting up nice quality green colored alfalfa hay. Lots of people do things differently when it comes to baling alfalfa in general. Some put up nice quality stuff and some put up excessive bleachy non leafy stuff. I'm getting into the hay business pretty heavily and would like to know what works best for you. Starting from windrow size ground moisture how many days after cut to rake and how many days after rake to bale. What's your methods to see when the hay is ready to rake and bale. These are all things that add up to quality hay. Of course plant maturity and stuff but I'm talking about the art of putting up nice hay. Thanks!!
