Hey folks,
Anyone else out there have a newer Krone fixed chamber? Mine plugs fairly often, even though my wind-rows are not high (hay ground is in pretty rough shape), and I have two questions:
1. There's this thing called the 'additional compression rake.' Long tines get bent horribly when the baler gets plugged and I swear they make it worse -- like rebar in concrete, and the grass sets hard around them. I've removed it a few times, bent the tines back into place, and then it happens again. Anyone see any reason why this additional rake is necessary? It comes out easily and I've baled without it and don't seem to notice a difference. I guess it's job is to help prevent plugging by keeping the hay uniform as it goes through the pick-up, but it actually seems to create more problems than it solves.
2. Dealer tells me that Krone told him no one should ever use an old side-delivery roll-a-bar rake like mine when operating one of these balers, because it "ropes" the hay. Said I needed gyrorake in order to prevent plugging. Is he just trying to sell me more equipment?
Thanks.
