Well Folks here's a head scratcher.....I purchased a former race horse property with a 60x60 Barn. I put the acreage in alfalfa / orchard (Tired of grain prices beating the **** out of me!) The barn had hay storage which I had to remove 20 year old hay (really !) It was wet so no choice. The other part of the barn were the stalls which we tore out. Now that trampled hay is dry. I have always put down tarp and then pallets for putting up hay. But the hay layer is about 8" and dry...Should I just level the hay and put the pallets on it ???? I'm in the mid-atlantic , humidity is REAL ! Grandpa always said a dry hay layer was the best prevention of mold , But Grandpa never saw 20 year old hay !!!!
