I've got leaves bad

I have two of my alfalfa field heavly covered with leaves. Went out today and started blowing 4 hours later with a stilh back pack blower I had mad a small dent. I said screw this. Got the lawn mower out and got about three acres done in a couple hours. My question is my mower slightly cuts the top of the green shoots on the plants. If i raise the deck it leaves a lot of leaves behind. Will cutting the tip 1/4 of the green shoots hurt my alfalfa. Wanted to ask before I continue mowing/blowing my fields. And yes my customers did complain about having leaves in my first cutting hay last year.
