We are beginning to look into purchasing a scale to weigh our calves as they are in the squeeze chute. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
We normally prep our calves for a special feeder sale by fence line weaning, vaccinating and worming as required, holding them for 45 days after separating them from their mothers, and teaching them to eat out of troughs before shipping them to the sale. During that time we'd like to know how much weight these calves initially lose and gain back over the 1.5 month weaning period.
