Seeding Alfalfa

I have a 155 ac field that's been in alfalfa/grass for 13 yrs. Of course alfalfa is dying out more and more each yr. Not able to spray and break up field this fall. So thinking of spraying the last of the alfalfa out and overseeding with grasses in the spring.
Keeping in mind of the alfalfa toxicity, I should be able to overseed alfalfa the following year to get my mixture back.
My soil is very sandy, so alfalfa establishes very easy under pivot irrigation.
Sounds crazy right? Just thinking outside the norm in my area.
