New Land in Virginia - What to Plant

We just leased new land that has been in a corn/soybean rotation in the summer and wheat in winter. I will have the grain drill rented in a few days and I’m considering trying an all orchard grass stand on this tract. We have always done mixes for our permanent hay fields; however, I want to try and get away from fescue. Everything around us is mixed grass hay majority fescue. What are your opinions on solid stand planting or orchard grass in south West Virginia?
