Wish list new baler JD or NH w/Thrower

Working on my wish list - new baler with a thrower sometime in near future, so I can make small bales (again) for the 'horsey' people (and reap the rewards from their pockets). 

 

I know everyone may have an opinion but, what model and why?

 

I am strongly considering either a John Deere 348 with a model 42 thrower or New Holland 5070 with a 72 thrower.  I know that one has a pan and the other belts.  They both claim to be 'superior', but how about an opinion from some HayTalk user(s) on either or both of these models?

 

I have experience a long time ago with throwers (and the labor of unloading) so I do not need that info (albeit so long ago, with a JD 24T w/thrower, that we kept having to replace the pan seems like often.  But that might have been my Dad's fault, not realizing that he should make lighter bales, even though he had strong children).

 

I have some friends that have older JD 338 and NH, but they are the lower capacity models (almost impossible to bale large windows or straw behind the local farmers combines, hence I am looking at the 348 or 5070 models).  Horse power, will not be a problem have a 115 HP, 70 HP, 56 HP or 32 HP (with another tractor on my wish list, but that is another topic) at my disposal.  Some reason the NH has quite a higher HP requirement (and weights more than the JD).

 

My plan is to purchase a new baler w/thrower and wagons.  And if wagon is empty (by horse person's labor), then I will pull out the square baler.  If wagon is full, I will pull the wagon into my shed, hook up the round baler and finish baling (hence the other need for large capacity, I am not raking hay twice or making different size windrows).  And the other reason for new, is the new baler will be like my Dad's 24T that he bought brand new and maintained, still in the family, after my death (a 15 year or more monument presently, taking space presently in my shed, I just might part with it if I get a new baler).
