Deere 926 impeller drive gears

samedi 2 janvier 2016

I have a Deere 926 moco with a impeller that the drive gears are starting to show some advanced wear.  A neighbor and I bought this mower new in 2004 and it has served us well. It's been across enough acres that we had to replace the clevis hitch in fear that it was getting very thin last year, just to give you an idea how much it has been used.  The gears are starting to get very sharp and we really don't want them to fail in the middle of the season this summer.  Has anyone replaced these on their own?  Were very mechanical savvy, I'm just worried about how difficult it is to get the gearbox out and get at the back set of gears then reassemble it with the proper lash.  I know the gears themselves are kind of a sticker shock to buy, they do offer a&i replacement a bit cheaper.  On a side note Deere mocos have doubled in price since we bought this one, so buying another new one is not very appealing.  I also plan on replacing all the bushings in the landing gear while we have it in the shop.
