Anybody use a Dion for chopping corn? We have a 3 row head on the machine, brand new. I'm entirely new to agriculture although I do have a lot of mechanical experience. I am a bit surprised at the amount of buildup the machine experiences. Have thrown the chain twice that runs the right side head on the machine in only about 15 acres.
Setting the tractor at 2 mph and it automatically compensates when it can't handle the load anymore. This is a New Holland 270 hp tractor. Granted this is with corn that isn't dried out yet. But I am a bit surprised our big tractor can barely handle it and a brand new $120k machine has issues in it.
