I have heard that the MF/Hesston inline small square balers are more gentle and have less leaf loss in alfalfa than the side pull square balers. In a way I can see this being true since whatever goes into the pickup goes straight up into the bale instead of being pulled to the side first but then on the other hand it seems like the augers on the pickup might be a little hard on the leaves as they move the hay into the center of the pickup.
Those that have used an inline baler in alfalfa do you think there is a noticeably less amount leaf loss or is it just a marketing hype?
