JD Bar rake

We have a pull behind bar rake. Tricycle type. It seems to spiral the hay tight. I have been looking at getting a wheel rake instead. However, I see a lot of people using bar rakes on here. Any ideas? There is not really an adjustment to make but I'm curious why it spirals. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!
