Double beam hay rack frame

I got given two running gears that I'm going to make for hauling round bales. The problem is that the middle pipe and braces are TARFU. My question is I have access to the horizontal pieces of a pallet rack system. Nice and heavy build. Is it possible to replace the middle section with this? Is it built with one tube for a reason? The rack is what I'd like to do. The pallet frame pic is what I'd like to use.
