No till convertion question.

Is it possible to convert a conventional drill into a no till type? I use a john deere 7000 no till planter and I've seen them in both styles. I'd assume they can be converted to a no till. Can the same be done with a drill? I have a chance to get a IH 5100 for a good price but don't like the idea of tilling... I no till my beans in 30 inch rows but don't like how slow they canopy and split row units as nice as they are are expensive. I'd like to do narrower rows.
