For the last several years, a neighboring rancher has taken care of the 40 acres of hay on our place as it adjoined him. His knees however started giving him enough trouble that he gave up all his flood irrigated ground...me for example. I had the harvesting contractually done this year, and although the work was well done, it was done too late. First cutting is up and stacked. I just got the water off and it's 9/10/2015. Hay prices are depressed here due to abundance of hay.
All the above is to ask the question, do I still try to put 2nd cutting up, or wait until we get a good frost and pasture it, or???
I've acquired tractor, mower, and bailer for next year, and have a couple of sources for stacking.
Thanks in advance for helping a struggling new hay producer. I've fed a lot of it but have never been on the production end.
