observations from first time bale wrapper

lundi 21 septembre 2015

We made the decision to change from big bales then two string smalls to a new JD459 silage baler this year for our cattle feed. For a wrapper we bought a Diamond from poland.

Our first feeding bales were this last week, the sudan/sorghum (super sugar)  hay is very nice-smells yummy and the cows are all over it. The machine worked very good when hooked to our JD 110 tlb with the electric over hydraulic valves.

At first I was putting way too many wraps and modified the program. When dropping the bale I figured out to be enough distance to prevent contact to the previous bale as it would sometimes rip the plastic.

Next year we will pay better attention to the ground where we will stack the bales, maybe fence it in as some stupid coyote started walking around and crapping on top of the bales plus clawed a couple (??).  Plus grade off and spray.

Me and Patrick are real happy with the new program, we will wrap most everything as retailing hay sucks!
