Alfalfa population

Sowed a new alfalfa/orchard grass field. Mixed the seed in with the fertilizer and rolled it in. Fertilizer cart was set wrong and applied about 3X what it should have.

Somehow, despite very dry conditions it looks like I have a very thick stand of alfalfa coming. I estimate that I put on about 60 lbs. Alfalfa and 30 lbs of orchard grass.

Question is what should I expect from a stand that thick? Should I try to thin it somehow? If so, how?
