Hot Beans

dimanche 18 octobre 2015

Fella that has a farm in Southern Illinois that I will be hunting on this fall was picking beans yesterday....wind coming straight out of the North was blowing hard as he was picking South when evidently chaff ignited around the blower. He said it was real dusty with a strong wind yesterday when he smelled smoke and swung out of the beans. He said he saw it was on fire and left the blower going in hopes of pushing it out. Not to be. He had almost 200 gallons of fuel onboard and it ignited. Nearby fella came running with 2 shovels and unbelieveably they were able to hold the fire back in the field until the fire department got there....it was a miracle it did not get into the beans. He said two hours later the local Deere dealer that they do business with had a late model combine with a 40' draper parked beside the burnout. Just the rear of the combine burned....the head and front tires were not damaged. Combine was about a '08.

Regards, Mike
