We bale 4x5s net wrapped bales with a John Deere silage special. Was thinking about making the change to big squares (3x4). Our main bale is wheat straw but we also do a little custom baling around, not much though. This past year we baked over 2,000 rounds and all of them made a trip a couple counties over or a couple states out of the way. Financially were not able to go out and purchase a new big baler yet but was thinking about possibly selling the Deere and maybe leasing a big baler. I haven't checked into this any we were just talking over supper tonight about possibilities. Does any one know if a dealers will do leases like that? We have got the tractor to take care of pulling it so that won't be an issue. I have heard that when hauling a pretty good distance the big squares are definitely the way to go. Also we are trying to pick up more acreage this year as well...what all of yalls thoughts and ideas about this? My location is eastern us.
