When I first start my RTV 1100 I hear that sound for 30 seconds or so until the engine warms up. If I turn the A/C off it stops. If I turn it on it starts again. Then, after about 30 seconds it stops altogether, both with the A/C on and off.
I hope it's nothing serious. I don't have a trailer to tow the RTV to the dealer's, and he charges $80 to pick it up at my place and return it. And the dealer's shop charges an arm and a leg for repairs.
