New holland 268 Pickup Rebuild

I am currently trying to rebuild the pickup on my 268 while i was in there looking around i noticed that where the pickup rods ( the shafts the your tines bolt to) had alot of play where they went through the teo hubs. Like 1/8 to a 1/4. No bearing no bushing nothing on in between any of them... hard to believe they would leave it metal on metal there due to the movment of the rods . Does anyone know if there should be bushings or bearings between these spots?
