I think I know the answer, but I'll ask anyway....
Thinking of getting a 6-rotor tedder for next year. Have Kuhn and Krone dealers close by. I've had good luck with Kuhn - my old tedder is a 20 year old Kuhn/NH 163, and I have two Kuhn rotary rakes that I really like. Never tried Krone. If I order a Krone now I can have it come in as part of the dealer's stock order for next year and save on shipping costs.
All of my fields are connected so practically no time on the road. A carted tedder would be nice, but don't think I really need it. Besides, Krone doesn't make a 6-rotor carted that has a drawbar hitch - only two-point so Kuhn would be the only choice.
The base Krone is about $750 more than the Kuhn. The Kuhn is not available with boundary edge control (unless you get the carted version). The Krone comes standard with manual boundary edge control, and the hydraulic control is $675 more for a total difference of $1425 extra for the Krone, albeit better equipped.
So, is it worth it to get the Krone? If I do, will I use the boundary control enough to warrant the hydraulic option? I'm afraid if I don't get the hydraulics, I won't bother with it in the first place.
