Alfalfa and dozer tacks

I was read an article about alfalfa during a wet year and mentioned that a little dozer for a tractor was better to use on alfalfa especially when more on the wet . I don't have any experience with a dozer but I would think that would tear the crop up more than any regular tractor tire would .
