MF 1837 hooked to Steffen 950 accumulator my way

jeudi 2 juillet 2015

Last spring I traded my 4570 in on a new MF 1837.  I have a Steffen 950 accumulator that I picked up last year which I pull behind the baler.  I have never liked the idea of the additional stresses of an accumulator being placed on the bale chamber of the baler.  Especially my new 1837!  So, I took an nontraditional approach and built a caster wheel for the front of the accumulator to carry the weight.  I made my own hitch on the back of the baler connecting to the axle frame with a set of light duty 3 point hitch ball joints.  The hitch has a slide so that during transport I can center the accumulator behind the baler.  For field work the hitch slides to align the accumulator behind the bale chute.  I baled 4000 bales of straw and it has worked really well.  I thought some of you might like to see it so, I have attached some pictures of it below.  I forgot to take some pictures of it in action.
