NH 273 baler problems

Have been having some problems with the NH 273 baler. The needles were missing every other cycle creating one double bale then it would make a normal size bale then repeat the large bale. Adjusted the knotter clutch and retimed the baler. It seemed to fix the problem but when you cycle the baler the knotter rotates slightly making a click right before the plunger enters the bale chamber. It does this every time the plunger is about to enter the bale chamber.  The plunger stop isnt exposed where the plunger would barely hit it. Any ideas on what might possibly be wrong?
