My brother baled some light second cut today and had trouble with the baler making some very short (barely over half the normal length) bales, but only around 1 in 8 it seemed. It was a small field and seemed to happen more often whenever he turned and there was no hay going in the baler.
He just replaced the knurled wheel that drives the trip arm and the teeth on the arm are in good shape. This baler has always been on the inconsistent side for bale length especially in light swaths, but is it possible he put the wheel on wrong somehow even though there's not much too it! He felt that the arm was bouncing up on the turns even with no hay going in, but he was by himself so no way to observe it. Kuhns accumulator on behind so lots of back pressure.
Thanks for any ideas!
