I am trying to make dry hay for horses on some pretty tired fields. (Haven't had any cow manure or fertilizer or lime in quite some time). I wanna plow up a field that doesn't have much grass growing anymore and reseed it, hoping to get a crop by 2016. Any thoughts on what to plant? Orchard grass, Timothy, alfalfa etc. What would do well in the mountains of northeast pa.
And do I plant oats along with it. Field is well drained as its in a creek bottom.
