Orchard grass hay 2nd cut Central Oregon watering question

Hello all

Happy Sunday!  

Here in Central Oregon we are getting dry 90-100 degree days, no rain since early Jun.

 

For those of you in dry hot climates 

 

1.How many days do you let the stand dry before 2nd cutting in a hot dry August?

2. It's been 7 weeks (45+days) of watering , how many weeks do you let the 2nd cutting grow w/ irrigation?

 

 

 

 

Was planning for 2nd cutting of our Orchard grass field.  Wanted to stop the 24-7 wheel line irrigation today or tomorrow then cut on Sat Aug 12.  In June for the 1st cut we gave it 6-7 days  no irrigation before cutting. 

 

Now we have a small chance of rain Monday Aug 14.   So may now wait .
