In the spring of '15 I seeded a field into pasture using a brillion seeder with the following mix:
Foregrazer V Alfalfa 20% Spring Green Festuolium 20 Fleet Meadow Bromegrass 15 Tetra-Gain Perennial Ryegrass 10 Annual Ryegrass 10 Milkway Fescue Blend 10 Climax Timothy 10 Birdsfoot Trefoil 2.5 Alice White Clover 2.5
Parts of the field ended up way too alfalfa heavy. I spoke with a Brillion guy and he said because it was a premix the small stuff filters to the bottom with every little bump you go over. Even during transport still in the bag it can greatly separate.
I rotationally graze and finish hereford beef cattle - moving the cattle every other day. This fall I would like to drill in some more grass to thicken it up and also continue to thin out the alfalfa.
Any suggestions on what grass to add to this mix?
Will no-till drilling work?
What to seed?
