Hesston 530 baler Issues

My Hesston 530 (actually rebranded to Case/IH) had been working fine, belts all up to snuff, etc... , then a lower bale tensioning spring broke.  I ordered a new one and installed it yesterday.  Coincidentally my main baling tractor blew the PTO clutch and I put the baler on my Ford 2600 after replacing the spring.  Now when I bale it makes about 1/4 of a bale and then the pickup plugs.  So i have 2 new things, the new spring, and the different tractor.  The PTO clutch on the 2600 is at the end of adjustment but runs a sickle bar fine.

Any ideas?  You can't really screw up a spring replacement, right?
