Today was my inaugural step into using this baler for real. Got enough hay into the chamber to equal a half a bale and broke the yoke on the top of the rotor drive. Evidently there is either something wrong with the overload clutch, as that should have protected it even if there is a problem in the gear box itself under the clutch, or it was the result of me doing something really wrong in setup. One thing I just read was that I shouldn't have had any pressure on the tension until the chamber was full, and low and behold I had the setting on 3.5 . Don't know why that would have caused this problem though, as the feeder fork and plunger were going strong yet, just no rotor or pickup activity. Anyone had this trouble before? Don't see any cracks in the yoke or anything like that, just a good clean brake (well not very good at all really), which is telling me there's a hidden problem that caused this mess. Bone dry fluffy orchardgrass by the way and not at all pushing it, but where it broke in the field, it had just swollowed a decent size wad of hay, but not too big.
I'm a thinking this is gonna be expensive........
