Spring planting alfalfa in the Northeast

dimanche 5 février 2017

I have always seeded in the fall do to less weed pressure and favorable weather to start a great stand of hay. I have acquired some land and would like to seed it down with alfalfa this spring so  can pull a crop this year off the field. It going to be roundup ready to to when i looked at it last fall it was loaded with yellow fox tall. Would you recommend a nurse crop or just let the weeds come in and spray it off when 6-8 tall. I read the recent article in hay&forage about cutting rates of nurse crop down to 1 bushel to the acre and also seeding with teff. What are you guys doing for spring seeding
