Discbines and hayfields with rocks....

Anyone dealing with rocks in their hayfields when they are cutting with their discbine?

Are you finding rocks in your hay fields from having plowed prior to planting, glacial type rocks that just get pushed up to the surface or no rocks at all as once a stand of hay is established, there's none to be concerned about?

I'm thinking damage caused by rocks when I ask this question.  Rocks flying out of machines, rocks being picked up and running through the rollers knocking chunks of rubber, damaging steel on steel rolls bending or making them useless or rocks taking out flails or even damaging the gear bed.

How much trouble do you have with rocks and your discbine and why/what is the source of the rocks in the field in the first place?

We are no-till and really don't have any rocks, however, if you put a plow in the ground an inch, we are the Saudi Arabia of rocks anywhere from the size of a small potato to a basketball.

Just curious.

Thanks!

Bill
