We're considering switching to rounds to eliminate all the hand stacking (on the wagon and in the mow) we currently do for ~8k small squares a year.
I have no experience with rounds at all, so I'm wondering how easily they break apart by hand to load 2 or 3 hundred pounds of dry hay into a TMR mixer for the dairy ration. We would also be using straw to bed pens and freestalls.
Possible baler would be a NH 450 crop cutter with all the knives in. Does preservative on the hay make any difference?
How well do rotocut rounds break apart by hand?
