We have traditionally sold our round alfalfa bales to cow/calf producers or feedlots. We now have access to a hay barn to store some of our best alfalfa rounds. Question is this - if we can get quality(150+ RFV) alfalfa put up in rounds and barn stored would these be marketable to dairies? Or are most dairies setup primarily for grinding and storage of large squares? How big of a factor is bale type for most dairies? I realize transportation of rounds longer distances probably wouldn't be feasible so market would be maybe 100 miles or less. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks
