Winter repair projects-question for Mike10

Mike-I have a NH1409 discbine. that has a bent top shield.  I bought it new in 05 or 06.  deflection is a hair more than 2 ".  Occurs from it bouncing up and down as it has never been hit by anything.

 

my question- do I just remove it from the discbine, press it back flat and put a heavier piece of angle in it or what is the best approach?  Thanks.
